The Homecoming by J. Scott Coatsworth

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an interesting short story with a well conceived premise. I like how the idea of werewolves was worked into the science fiction style story. I also liked how bigger ideas, and concepts played into the story it added depth to the story even if it was a bit heavy handed in spots. The werewolves were interesting, and I liked how their culture, and society worked. I think the relationship stuff was a bit too quick, and it felt a little bit too much like insta love for my taste especially considering how broken Aldiss was by loss, and grief. I also think Aldiss was a bit too quick to overcome the taboos of his relationship with Hari <spoiler>they find out that they are cousins</spoiler>. Overall a nice short story that I might have enjoyed a bit more had it been a bit longer, and a bit more time given to the development of the bond between Hari and Aldiss.
